Online Notepad
Free to use. Runs in your browser: your files and text are not uploaded.
A plain notepad in your browser. Start typing, and your note is saved automatically on this device. Come back later and it is still there.
How to use it
- Type in the box. A line under it shows the word and character count and confirms the note was saved.
- Download as .txt saves the note as a plain text file that any device can open.
- Copy puts the whole note on your clipboard.
- Clear deletes the note after asking you to confirm.
How it works
Browsers give every website a small private storage area on your device, called local storage. Each time you type, this page writes the note there. When you open the page again, it reads the note back. No account is needed because nothing is stored on a server.
Good uses
- Jotting down a phone number or a list while you work
- Drafting a message before pasting it somewhere else
- Removing formatting: paste text here and copy it again to get plain text
Limits
- One note only. There are no folders or separate pages.
- Plain text only: no bold, pictures or tables.
- Clearing your browser’s cookies and site data deletes the note. Download anything you need to keep.
- Anyone who uses this browser on this device can open this page and read the note. Do not store passwords or private details on a shared computer.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my notes saved?
In your browser's own storage on this device. They are not sent to our server or to anyone else.
Can I see my note on another device?
No. The note exists only in the browser where you typed it. To move it, download it as a text file or copy and paste it.
Will my note still be there tomorrow?
Yes, as long as you use the same browser on the same device and do not clear its site data. Notes typed in a private or incognito window are deleted when that window closes.
