Image Resizer

Resize an image to an exact width and height in pixels. Free, with no upload and no sign-up.

Free to use. Runs in your browser: your files and text are not uploaded.

Change the width and height of a JPG, PNG or WebP picture. Choose the file, type the new size in pixels, and download the result. The shape of the picture is kept unless you untick the box.

How to use it

  1. Choose an image. Its current size appears under the buttons.
  2. Type a new width or height. With “Keep the shape” ticked, the other number fills in by itself.
  3. Pick the file type to save as, press Resize, then press the download button.

Example

A phone photo of 4000 × 3000 pixels is often too large for a form that asks for 800 pixels wide. Type 800 in the width box. The height becomes 600, because 3000 × 800 ÷ 4000 = 600, and the picture keeps its 4:3 shape.

Which file type to choose

  • JPG is best for photos and gives the smallest files. It has no transparency, so see-through areas become white.
  • PNG keeps every pixel exactly and keeps transparency. Files are larger.
  • WebP is smaller than JPG at similar quality and keeps transparency. Some older programs cannot open it.

Limits

  • Unticking “Keep the shape” stretches or squeezes the picture. It does not crop it.
  • The size is set in pixels. To hit a file size in kilobytes, use the Image Compressor.
  • Animated GIFs are saved as a single still picture.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing reduce image quality?

Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than the original cannot add detail, so it will look softer.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The picture is opened and redrawn by your own browser, and it never leaves your device.

What is the largest size I can make?

Up to 12,000 pixels on each side. Very large pictures may be limited by the memory of your phone or computer.
