Alarm Clock

How to use it

1. Set the time in the Ring at box.
2. Optionally type a label, such as “Call the bank”.
3. Press Set alarm. You will hear one short beep, which confirms that sound is working.
4. When the alarm rings, press Stop alarm.

If the time you choose has already passed today, the alarm is set for that time tomorrow. The message under the buttons tells you how long is left.

How it works

The page reads your device’s clock four times a second and compares it with the alarm time. When the clock reaches that time, it plays a repeating beep and shows your label until you stop it.

The short beep when you set the alarm has a purpose. Browsers block web pages from playing sound until the visitor has clicked something, and that beep, started by your click, allows the later alarm to play.

Before you rely on it

• Check the confirmation beep. If you did not hear it, turn up the volume or unmute the tab.
• Keep the tab open. You can work in other tabs and windows.
• Stop the device from sleeping until the alarm has rung.

Limits

• One alarm at a time. Open the page in a second tab for another.
• The alarm is not saved. Reloading the page clears it.
• On phones, web pages are paused when the screen locks, so the alarm will not ring. Use the phone’s own clock app.
• This is not a substitute for a real alarm clock for waking up. A browser update, a crash or a flat battery would stop it.
